Have a few... but not a few too many SUMMER COCKTAILS!


Mmmmm…everyone loves a summer cocktail, especially in this heat. Here are some fun oldies but goodies when it comes to cool refreshments like cocktails. Making the drink doesn't need to be a challenge, but you can make it one! Get together with a bunch of your friends for a girls night in and have a drinking contest, no not like those college days. Bring your own blender and see who can make the best concoction! We’ll leave the prize up to you. Don’t forget the garnish for the full effect, it’s all about the perfect detail!

Strawberry Daiquiri

For tequila lovers, skip the rum, throw in some tequila, and add a lounge chair in the sand for the full island effect.

1.25 oz. rum

1.75 oz. sweet and sour mix

3 oz. frozen strawberries

1 cup(s) crushed ice



The drink that turns into food… don’t forget to eat the fruit!

1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) brandy

1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) orange liqueur, such as Triple Sec

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) freshly squeezed orange juice

1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

7 tablespoons (3 1/2 ounces) light-bodied red wine, such as Rioja

1 cup ice cubes

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) club soda

1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

1 apple slice

1 orange slice

Pimm’s Cup

It sounds so royal and so fancy

About 1 cup ice cubes

1/4 cup (2 ounces) Pimm's No. 1

6 tablespoons (3 ounces) ginger beer or ginger ale

1 cucumber slice

1 sprig fresh mint (5 to 6 leaves)

Old Fashioned

For those mad men fans out there, this drink is for you! Cheers Don Draper.

1 1/2 teaspoons (1/4 ounce) club soda

1 sugar cube (preferably rough-cut and unbleached*) or 1/2 teaspoon raw sugar, such as turbinado or Demerara

Dash Angostura Bitters

5 tablespoons (2 1/2 ounces) whiskey

1 cup ice

1 1/2 inch thick lemon strip

1 (1/2-inch-thick) strip orange peel

Looking for something a little more sweet…add pomegranate

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) fresh lime juice

2 heaping teaspoons superfine sugar

1 cup crushed ice

12 fresh mint leaves, plus 5 small sprigs for garnish

1/4 cup (2 ounces) white rum

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) club soda

Mint Julep

Pretend you're at the Kentucky Derby, and don’t forget the large hat.

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) club soda

2 heaping teaspoons superfine sugar

15 fresh mint leaves, plus 5 small sprigs for garnish

6 tablespoons (3 ounces) Bernheim or other high-quality whiskey

2 cups crushed ice

Magarita (a classic)

Frozen or on the rocks…it’s your call!

1/4 cup kosher salt

1 wedge lime

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) fresh lime juice

2 heaping teaspoons superfine sugar

1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) Cointreau or other triple sec orange liqueur

1/4 cup (2 ounces) reposado tequila

About 2 cups ice cubes

French 75

If you’re not a fan of lemon, substitute it with lime.
You can’t go wrong when adding any citrus, maybe even grapefruit.

1 1/2 tablespoons (3/4 ounce) fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) simple syrup

1 cup ice cubes

1/4 cup (2 ounces) dry sparkling wine, such as brut Champagne, chilled

Blood and Sand

not quite sure what to make of this drink, but it sure sounds intense

1/4 cup (2 ounces) Scotch

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) sweet vermouth

1 dash orange bitters

1 cup ice cubes

1/4 cup (2 ounces) cherry ale

Orange juice (200g is approximately 3/4 cup,
but measurement is very precise in molecular gastronomy)
