Trending Tuesday: Sparkling Red Sweet Wine & Brix Chocolate
This morning we were listening to one of our favorite radio shows on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, "WakeUp with Taylor" and heard the segment with TV personality, award-winning sommelier and comedian, Laurie Forster. I don't know about you, but she sounds like she would be the life of the party since she could tell you the best wine to drink with your cheese AND crack a joke. Talk about being well versed! Well, Taylor and Kenny were happily drinking wine and eating cheese and chocolate at 8am while we were driving in rush hour traffic (yes we were jealous!!). But as soon as I heard that they were eating CHOCOLATE with wine I knew I needed to bump the scheduled blog post and get this up ASAP.
Guys & Gals: If you are looking for a great Valentine's Day present, then I urge to to follow Laurie's advice and pick up a bottle of Sparkling Sweet Red Wine (she mentioned Banfi's Rosa Regale Brachetto d'Aqui) and then buy some Brix chocolate. Brix chocolate is specifically created to go with wine! I mean, what could be easier?
Laurie talks about making a "wine sandwich" AKA sip the wine, eat the chocolate (cheese) and then sip the wine and notice how the wine changes. She also adds that when you pair sweet wine with sweet food (in this case chocolate), that the wine on the other end of the "sandwich" reads less sweet.
We love that sparkling wines are just for "special" occasions anymore and we love this new trend of sparkling RED wines. mmmmmm!
