Trending Tuesday: Unusual Wedding Boutonnières

unusualbouts.jpg

So the bride has her wedding bouquet and the groom has his wedding boutonnière. What does "boutonnière" mean? It actually means "buttonhole" in French which is an appropriate name considering that this (usually) little floral decoration is placed right over the buttonhold of the left lapel of a man's jacket. If you are in the United Kingdom and ask where your boutonnière is, they would not know this term but ask for your buttonhole and you will get your floral adornment.

Speaking of "floral" doesn't always apply to a boutonnière! There are many variations on the boutonnière and we've collected a few of our favorite and unusual. Leave us a comment and let us know which one is your favorite!

You can have your Boutonnière and eat it too! Well, not exactly as the Thistle will be a little sharp on the tongue but we love the little tomato for the pop of color and extra vitamin C!

We love the use of sea shells for a Boutonnière and this one is particularly lovely because of the composition of the two shells.

It seems that people either love or hate the succulent. I think it's so unusual and special! Pairing it with scabiosa is really unique and stunning!
